Shopping for A GREAT Deal
So I've been shopping for a great deal on a trip to somewhere romantic for our anniversary. With all this whining about lack of tourists, one might think really great deals would be out there. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be true. At least not traveling from around here. I checked up on the cruises. I don't know if this is because the major commercial lines blew off sailing out of Houston, but you can't get a great deal on an inside room out of Galveston anymore. The best I could come up with was around $400 for one of the shorter cruises, which isn't horrible. It is just you used to see things in the $275-300 range. Florida has the best cruise rates, but by the time we fly out there, we'd be right back up at the price of a cruise out of Galveston, at best.

Not much in the airfare department now, either. I found better deals a short while back than I find now for spring break or early summer. It starts to look a little better when you run airfare and hotel together. Until you realize the hotels are all off in little towns outside whatever city you are looking for, meaning increased expense for transport to and from the sights. sigh. Guess the days of amazing deals to exotic romance are over for now. I've hooked up for email alerts for fare drops. We'll see how that goes. I'll let you know if anything exciting turns up.
