I find it eerie how beautiful many of the pictures of the incident appear, though perhaps it is the beautiful blue skies that provide the backdrop. No telling what will happen if storms start making their way through. The government has offered to send in help as BP struggles to contain the flood of oil from the drill pipe since the rig burned. The depth underwater is hampering the efforts to devise a way to cap the well and bring the oil to the surface in an ordered, usable fashion. One of the current solutions to the spreading oil slick is to gather the oil in containment on the water, burn it down to an easily removable tar, and then skim it out with nets. Sounds pretty yucky to me, but I suppose none of the options are very attractive.
